#114 Total identity Total Identity’s new office, comprising approximately 1 100 m2, is located on the top floor of the first office building on Steigereiland in IJburg at the foot of the Enneus Heermabrug, which defines IJburg. The view therefore defines the atmosphere within the building. The interior has been designed to have a close relationship to the grid of the building, with the grid acting as the ‘organiser’. This is a design method that, within the graphic disciplines, is frequently applied by Total Identity. The floor is distinguished by the elongated shape of the building. The large workplaces have all been set up to face the glass wall. Total Identity chose to have as much transparency as possible, along with the most natural configuration of components possible within the company. A printed carpet (approximately 15 by 85 metres) represents the creative heart of the company, where the various disciplines merge in short and longer work sessions. A place where assignments come in and spread across the shop floor. Aspects of the design can be traced back to the rich history of Total Identity. The interior was designed in collaboration with Koninklijke Ahrend NV, a company that shares its design history with Total Identity. The collaboration between Ahrend and Total Design, later Total Identity, started decades ago with, amongst others, the development of the Mehes furniture concept and the development of Corporate Identity during the 1970’s. Total Identity has recently been involved in Ahrend’s repositioning and is responsible for the Co_Create NOW innovation platform. |
