#081 Barra

As part of renovation activities, the owner of tapas bar Siempre approached Concern design studio and asked them to (re)design the new Siempre, as well the ‘Barra’, the temporary replacement.

Barra has been used during the six-month renovation period, and due to its temporary nature, has a certain guerrilla-like character. If you look closely, you’ll notice ‘Barra’ spelt out on the white tiled walls, a reference to the house style. The floors, ceiling and walls are painted grey. Black spots lead all the way to the back, where a plain yet inviting, atmospherically- lit tapas bar catches the eye.

Tables are simple but elegantly set. The best part of the table setting is the placemat, a piece of ‘off-the-roll’ fish wrapping paper on which guests give their creativity free rein. Felt-tipped pens are also provided and the guests can doodle while they are enjoying their drinks. The most creative works are given a place of honour on the wall.
