#131 AMS 3.0 This booklet provides a bird’s-eye view of the history of Amsterdam as a city of innovation, with respect to the open and free exchange of information, on the occasion of the world congress on information technology (Amsterdam, May 2010). This history goes back to the seventeenth century, with the founding of the free press and the establishment of the stock market. In order to continue playing a leading role, constant innovation is necessary. The time has come for AMS 3.0, a platform that will make the city’s data accessible to everyone. Data that is really freely available will provide new impetus to initiatives taken by companies, institutions and Amsterdam residents. AMS 3.0 is the sequel to the history of the city as described here, an elaboration of its long tradition.
